December Fun...

Here's a quick re-cap of a few activities that we managed to do in December. (I wasn't a completely lame mom)We went to Temple Square! Actually I went 3 times. Once with the youth, once to the Roof with Eric for dinner (thanks to my Dad!) and once with the kids. We took them to see the Joseph Smith movie and then to see the lights. They were both great in the movie! The lights were beautiful and I particularly liked the nativities surrounding the Church office building. I was laughing so hard at this couple that were standing next to us looking at one of the nativities. They were trying to figure out what country or nationality this particular nativity was and it looked a little like Native Americans, but I think it was from India or something. Anyway, the girl of the couple said, "Oh, look. It says right there--Please enjoy the NATIVES from the sidewalk." It really said "nativities". I'm pretty sure she was blonde. (Totally kidding.)

With Eric's crazy schedule, we weren't able to do much at night as a family, but one night I took the kids to see the Elves at Gardner Village. It was FREEZING cold, but they had fun. When we got there, they were just starting a concert and a live nativity outside, so we sat on the METAL bleachers. Well, I sat, and the children each took one of my legs. Too cold for pictures, but it was pretty awesome.

After Gardner Village, we went to Papa Murphy's and got a pizza and made hot chocolate. It took us hours to get warm after being outside for 2 hours. We watched Rudolph and had a pizza picnic downstairs. Then the kids jumped in my bed and were still cold, so I showed them how I used to swaddle them up when they were babies so that their arms couldn't flail around. They loved that! It was a great night with the kids.
Christmas was crazy! I am vowing this year that I will no longer try to go to 5 houses in 24 hours to celebrate. I was exhausted! Especially not having a husband there to help me out. Anyone who wants to see us Christmas day can come to our house!

We spent most of Christmas Eve night at my Grandpa's with my Dad's side of the family. We watched the Testaments. (the kids had too much Christmas Eve energy to watch a movie!!) and had root beer floats. Then we went and walked around Centerville park to see the lights. When we got done with that, we went to Matt and Heidi's house and saw that Buddy the elf had left PJ's for everyone!

We slept at Eric's sister's house so that the kids could have Christmas morning with their cousins. Hayden didn't sleep at all. And, one of the cousins set his alarm clock for 4AM! Eric wasn't even home from work yet. The kids had fun opening their presents and seeing what Santa brought.

Maya got a "loving Family" doll house which she is in LOVE with. Hayden got a new pirate ship and tons of Star Wars action figures. Eric and I both got ipods! It was a great Christmas, indeed.
And what would Christmas be without making a gingerbread house? Hayden wanted the house to be as close to the picture on the box as possible. I think we did a pretty good job!

Oh the snow!!! I can't remember what that even looks like! You are one busy lady. Looks like through all the craziness you had an amazing Christmas! When I was prego last year we did no traditions so you should be proud!
