On Saturday I had the awesome experience to run in the Race for the Cure with my mom and my sister. Training for this has actually been really fun and enjoyable for me, but I was not prepared for the flood of emotion I would feel as I ran.
Thousands of people were running or walking, children were running even! And all with at least one name on their shirt that said who they were running for. Right as we started there was an old man who looked like he was in his 80's with his wife's name on the back of his shirt that said he was running "in memory" of her. I started to tear up thinking about how many lives have been effected by breast cancer. Also I started to feel energized because I was also running in honor of women I know. Both of my Grandma's have or have had breast cancer. They are both strong women whom I have much respect for, and the thought of running in honor of that was a great feeling for me. There are also amazing women in my current ward who are battling this right now, and I definitely had them in the forefront of my mind.
Eric thought the best part of the race was seeing the team names of the women who were running: "Big and Small-we love them all!", "Save the Ta-Ta's", "The Rack Pack". I am FOR SURE going to have a team name next year. There was also so much free stuff! (Which explains the pink bunny ears)
It was such an amazing event. There was also such a great feeling for me that I accomplished this first step on my way to being able to run a half marathon. I finished a race! Not a long one by any standards, but I finished. I feel so privileged to have been able to run for such a great cause and in honor of such amazing women.

Not a long one!? I am so impressed-I can't even run 1/2 a mile. What a great cause to run for as well. My Grandma had breast cancer and my husband has ran for her-your right about it effecting everyone. It would be fun to get a group together from book club to run next year.
I was there too. You're right -- it was an awesome experience! next year we should run together!
I would love to run with you, Susan!
wow! I am impressed! You put your mind to something and do it! I am so amazed at you! Way to go!
I so very proud of you, Brandi. You are an ispiration to me. When I don't feel like getting on the treadmill, I'll think of you sticking to your commitment. Loved the story of Hayden and Maya cheering you on.
Wow! So impressed - I can't run at all. Congratulations!!!
